Follow up on our Pet Pantry cause

October 1, 2009

A few weeks ago Toula and I had the opportunity to perform at Pet Pantry of Michigan’s benefit food drive and raffle and we had a wonderful time.  The Pet Pantry’s mission is to help low income families by providing food for their pets.

I had the opportunity to meet some great people that make the Pet Pantry possible.  They truly are making a difference in many people’s lives in Michigan by allowing pet owners to keep their dogs, where as, without their help, many family dogs may end up at a local shelter or in rescue.  I am personally involved in rescue and foster dogs, I know all too well the various reasons many dogs end up in rescues and economic hardship for the owner is way too common.

The support that people showed at this event made me believe that there is still hope for man kind.  I saw various people simply drive in the parking lot and open their trunks and drop off a bag of dog food and be one their way.  They left as fast as they came, almost like a silent hero to a dog in need.

If you want to make a big different, consider doing a small act of kindness: buy a bag of dog food and donate it to the Pet Pantry of Michigan http://www.petpantrymi.org/events.html, or to a local rescue group.
