February 10, 2009

We are pleased to announce that Toula and I will be appearing at The NASCAR Foundation Partners for Paws Spectacular – A Live and Silent Auction Event on February 11, 2009, taking place at Daytona Beach, Florida

Hosted by NASCAR Drivers Greg Biffle and Ryan Newman, the event will take place the Daytona Club outside the Daytona International Speedway. Proceeds raised from the evening will benefit the Greg Biffle Foundation, Ryan Newman Foundation and Halifax Humane Society of Daytona Beach, three organizations that support improving animal welfare.

We are proud to be part of this event and to help raise awareness of rescue dogs in need.  Toula is proof that if given a good home, rescue dogs have the ability to thrive and even become a super star!

WHATADOG gives back to rescue.

February 3, 2009

This past weekend, Team WHATADOG, traveled to Traverse City to offer our services to a recently adopted border collie named Snoopy.  I had the opportunity to work with Snoopy with his original owners and then spent the past year working to re-home him.  Snoopy is a great dog and it became my mission to find him the perfect home, not a good home, but a wonderful home that would have as much love, affection and companionship that he had to offer.  After a long search, together with North Star Border Collie,, we were able to place Snoopy in his new forever home.  I wanted to see Snoopy succeed and after working with his new owners in person at the adoption and then over the telephone, it was time to put the finishing touches on Snoopy in his new home.  So together with Toula and Cole, we traveled three hours north, through snow and winter conditions, to offer a day of free training to Snoopy’s new owners.

It was a successful day of training, and I was able to see Snoopy over come his fear of buses, trucks and various other noises.  More importantly, I was able to see Snoopy’s new owners experience a walk with Snoopy in a whole new way and give them the tools to continue building their bond with this wonderful dog.  This would not have been possible with out the calm dedication of Snoopy’s new owners and their willingness to work with me and my dogs.

Doing what they do best, Cole and Toula were able to show Snoopy how to be a happy, healthy part of a pack.  They were able to walk side by side with Snoopy down streets that in the past Snoopy froze with fear.
